The altar is solid rock and possibly points back to early pagan times. The relief shows Saint Michael as the patron saint of the dying and companion of souls: He leads the departed soul to heaven, where the fullness of supernatural light radiates towards it. The side figures are Saint Sebastian (patron against plague and epidemics) on the left and Saint Wendelin (patron of the country folk) on the right.
