Welcome to the Ehrenberg

Our beautiful monastery complex is visible from afar on the Engelberg, the southernmost foothills of the Spessart. From the village of Großheubach, 612 stone steps, the so-called “Engelsstaffeln”, lead up to the church, which is under the patronage of Archangel Michael.

If you’ve always wanted to know how the “Engel”berg monastery actually got its name, you’ll find the answer here. We would also like to introduce you to the monastery and religious in more detail. But even if you just want to find out about the order of service or the opening hours of our monastery restaurant, you are on the right page. By the way: our entire monastery complex is handicapped accessible.

An extraordinary combination of church with side chapels

The church is divided into a high altar , a church room and the two side chapels. On the left is the Antoniuskapelle and on the right the Marienkapelle .
